Information on the 2011 NZ Earthquake.
The recent 2011 NZ Earthquake measured 6.3 on the ricter scale and was felt up to 5 km away from Christchurch which is where the center of the Earthquake was recorded. Residents have recalled the Earthquake lasting about 1 minute and have said that earthquake happened at around Midday, one of the busiest times of the day. Unfortunately the current Death toll record is over 150 and there is still hundreds of people reported missing.The Christchurch Cathedral was heavely damaged by this Earthquake and was a huge part of the Christchurch history.

On February 7, 1821, an American sealer by the name of John Davis made the first documented landing in West Antarctica though there are some controversy regarding this claim.
